Bath shoppers were dancing to the tune of revolutionary genre-bashers, Mr. Wilson's Second Liners on Friday lunchtime, as the dynamic six-piece – who form part of Bath Racecourse’s Lansdown Live series this spring and summer – thrilled onlookers with a flash mob-style performance.
Described as New Orleans meets 90s club classics, the uniformed band began their impromptu gig at Bath Spa train station at midday, before performing through South Gate. From here, they moved on to Bristol city centre, starting in Millennium Square at 5pm and working their way along the waterfront.
“What a lovely surprise that performance was,” said Becky Meredith, who watched the band during a lunchtime stroll. “It was quite a sight to see so many people dancing and singing their way through the city centre – they certainly got everyone up and about on a Friday.”
“It was an amazing spectacle,” added Rogan Thomson, another person to be caught up in the musical commotion. “The uniforms, the colour, the sound – it was impressive stuff.”
Mr. Wilson’s Second Liners are set to perform at Bath Racecourse on Friday, March 30th, joining a host of local up-and-coming artists at Bath Racecourse’s Lansdown Live series throughout the spring and summer months.
Lansdown Live presents a prime opportunity for budding performers to showcase their talents in front of a jam-packed crowd on some of the busiest days in the racing calendar.
As well as up-and-coming artists, the racecourse will also play host to more household names this summer, with Brit Award-winning singer-songwriter, James Blunt to take centre stage in September.
